San Lorenzo vs Independiente

San Lorenzo is yet to improve under recently-appointed boss Jorge Almiron. Last time out, the team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 away defeat at Defensa y Justicia after conceding in the 92nd minute. That means El Ciclon are winless in their last eight league encounters (with four draws and four losses), occupying the 23rd spot of the Superliga table with only 14 points. That negative run includes four games at Pedro Bidegain Stadium, with El Ciclon earning two points in that span.

Independiente also extended a negative streak in the Superliga last weekend. Following a 1-1 home draw with Talleres, El Rojo haven’t claimed any victories in the last four league games, drawing two and losing two. As a result, Ariel Holan’s men remain out of the Copa Libertadores spots, accumulating 24 points. They have produced mixed results away from home so far, registering two victories, four draws and two defeats.

Two teams who are finding trouble to win lately will meet each other on Saturday but this is a derby and San Lorenzo’s bad run will have to end sooner than later with all the new players they’ve added in the summer break so I will take them on the handicap.
