Newell’s vs Lanus

Newell’s Old Boys are still winless in the Superliga, having drawn with Belgrano 0-0 away last weekend. However, La Lepra showed a great improvement and they were close to claiming their first victory. With only two points, Newell’s need to increase their tally to stay safe from potential relegation threats. Omar De Felippe’s men drew with Independiente and lost to Atletico Tucuman at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa this season.

Lanus haven’t yet celebrated their first league win. Last time out, they made it three defeats in a row without even scoring after to a 1-0 home defeat to league leaders Racing Club in coach Luis Zubeldia’s return to the club. El Granate managed only two points and they should improve soon to stay away from relegation threats: the team fell into 18th spot in that table as Velez Sarsfield leapfrogged them last weekend. On away turf, Lanus drew with San Lorenzo and lost to Argentinos Juniors.

This is a hard-fought clash between two of the worst squads in the league, both desperate for points before things get tough for them in the relegations table. Lanus has conceded goals in every game so far this season, while Newell’s scored 2 in each of their first 4 games. One goal should open things up and I have to go for the low totals line.
