Independiente vs Union

Independiente is winless in their last five league matches (two defeats and three consecutive draws) following a scoreless stalemate at San Lorenzo last Saturday when the side played a poorly and was lucky to earn a point. Ariel Holan’s men wasted a good opportunity to approach the Copa Libertadores spot and they remain sitting in eighth on 25 points. However, El Rojo suffered a single defeat in their last seven home games in the Superliga, winning four and drawing two.

Union Santa Fe is now occupying the last Copa Sudamericana spot on 24 points following a scoreless draw with Newell’s Old Boys at home last Sunday. Even though their campaign has been decent so far, the team have been getting worse lately, claiming a single win in the last eight league games (drawing three and losing four). On the road, they collected 12 points as a product of three successes, three draws and two defeats.

Independiente’s 2019 has not been good so far, not only results-wise but also because of how bad they’ve been playing lately. Union can be a tough team and they should be able to take something from this game.
