July 30, 2018, was declared a public holiday by the government of Zimbabwe in observance of the “Harmonised Election†which goal was to ensure everyone’s right to cast their votes.
The said purpose was given a priority by The Premier Soccer League through the suspension of the championship which purpose was to give the stakeholders the chance to participate in the said event with focus.
In relation to this, The League decided to reschedule all the top-flight matches a week later. Therefore the matches are expected to proceed on the first weekend of August 2018.
Moreover, Kudzai Bare, PSL Communications, and Media Liaison Officer, shortly announced that political regalia is prohibited during football matches. The announcement was made yesterday and he was quoted as saying “This serves to advise all football fans that political party regalia is not allowed at Castle Lager PSL matches.
“We urge all clubs, security officers, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police to ensure that no fans wearing any form of political party regalia or clothing with political messages are granted access into the stadia.
“We further advise that there will be no PSL matches on the weekend of 28-29 July 2018. The Castle Lager PSL programme will resume on 4-5 August 2018,†wrote Bare.
As reference, here are the upcoming matches for the first Saturday of August: Harare City vs Chapungu (Rufaro, 3pm, ZTV), Bulawayo Chiefs vs Bulawayo City (Luveve), FC Platinum vs CAPS United (Mandava), Black Rhinos vs Yadah (National Sports Stadium), Nichrut vs Shabanie (Ascot).
While the first Sunday will involve the following: Dynamos vs Ngezi Platinum (Rufaro, 3pm, ZTV), Herentals vs ZPC Kariba (National Sports Stadium), Triangle vs Highlanders (Gibbo), Mutare City Rovers vs Chicken Inn (Vengere).
