The annual curtain raiser to the English football season takes place today with Liverpool and Manchester City facing off at Wembley, Liverpool have lost their best player from last season in Sandio Mane to Bayern Munich, I believe his loss is under reported and under estimated, he was a much better player and more influential on games than Liverpool’s other and probably more celebrated star man Mo Salah. They face a City side who have signed key striker Haaland from Dortmund and he will be a very interesting watch this season and offers City a very different type of player to bring into their team and an extra headache for opponents. The team news sees Liverpool keeper Alison out through injury while Diego Jota is also out through injury and with Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp having a pop at the scheduling of this fixture it feels like he may have more than one eye on the very important league match v Fulham next weekend.
