Defensa y Justicia managed to climb into a Copa Sudamericana spot on Sunday, when beating Atletico Tucuman -who hadn’t lost at home this season- 1-0 on the road. Ciro Rius’ strike allowed Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men to make it ten points of the last 12 available. As a result, they reached 28 points. At home, Defensa claimed four victories in their last five games, just losing to Velez Sarsfield in week 13.
On Thursday, the side visited Colombia’s America de Cali in the return leg of the Copa Sudamericana’s first round, where they won 3-0 on a perfect performance that allowed them to advance to the next stage of the international tournament.
