Tacuary (Paraguay) vs Estudiantes (Argentina)
Tacuary keep their hope alive in the Copa Sudamericana thanks to their highly celebrated 3-1 home victory over Oriente Petrolero at Estadio Defensores del Chaco. The team collected their first three points in the Copa Sudamericana to occupy third place in group C, four behind Red Bull Bragantino and Estudiantes. Last Monday, they lost 1-0 away at Resistencia, which places them bottom both in the league table (11 points in 19 matches) and also in the relegation rankings (two teams will lose their top-flight status at the end of the season). In fact, Tacuary are on three losses in a row, having lost 3-1 to Guarany in their last home match after two consecutive victories as the hosting side.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes secured a valuable scoreless draw at Red Bull Bragantino in an intense match in week three. They remain in second spot of the group C table on seven points, trailing their last rivals just by goal difference. Last Friday, El Pincha beat Banfield 1-0 at home to climb into third spot of the Liga Profesional table on 31 points. Eduardo Dominguez’s men are now on 12 matches unbeaten in all competitions, winning nine and drawing three. Six of those games took place on the road: Estudiantes claimed four victories and four stalemates.
Tacuary has been terrible in defense but decent in attack with 4 goals scored in 3 games. They have no choice but to win here or they will be out, so I’ll go with the over as I expect an open game.
