Therefore, they are second-placed on nine points, trailing their last opponents by one ahead of the final matchday. The team didn’t have domestic action last weekend after losing to Gremio Anapolis on penalties in the semi-finals of the Goiania State Championship. Goianiense lost only once across their last 25 competitive matches, having won 16 and drawn eight. 12 of those games were on the road, with the team winning nine and drawing two.
Newell’s needs a miracle to advance to the next stage and it won’t happen as they are missing too many key players.
