Internacional (Brazil) – Rosario Central (Argentina)

SC Internacional produced a poor performance in the first leg and succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 away defeat to Rosario Central last Tuesday, which means they need to win at home. On Saturday, coach Roger Machado made his debut and the team also lost 1-0 away at Botafogo, which dropped them down to the 13th spot of the Brasileirao table on 19 points. O Colorado are without a win in their last eight in all competitions, drawing three and losing five. At home, Inter lost their last three matches.

Thanks to a strike from Jaminton Campaz in the second half, Rosario Central took an important 1-0 home success over SC Internacional, which would give them a ticket to the round-of-16 in the event of avoiding the defeat here. On Friday, coach Miguel Russo fielded a completely alternative XI but they had enough to beat Sarmiento 4-2 at home, making it nine points in six Liga Profesional rounds. Overall, El Canalla lost only one of their last five, winning two and drawing two. On a sorry note, Central lost seven of their last ten on away turf, along with a single win and two stalemates.

Despite their latest poor results I’m going to trust Inrernacional here. Brazilian clubs at home are a different story, same as Rosario Central when playing away so I think the hosts will win here and probably revert the result of the 1st leg or at least take it to a penalties shootout.
