Huracan (Argentina) vs Guarani (Paraguay)
Huracan were transferred to the Copa Sudamericana after a devastating 1-0 away defeat Sporting Cristal in the return leg Libertadores’ third stage, when they conceded in stoppage time to end up losing 1-0 on aggregate. El Globo are experiencing a poor form in general terms: having lost 2-1 away at Racing Club last Saturday, the team are winless in the last six matches in all competitions (two draws and four defeats). Following that run, Diego Dabove’s men also dropped down to the 14th spot of the Liga Profesional table on 12 points. In fact, Huracan lost 2-0 to Rosario Central in their last home match, which broke a 13-game unbeaten streak of ten victories and three draws at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco.
Guarani qualified for the group stage through an easy 3-1 win over Sportivo Ameliano on March 8th, when they played as the hosting side at Olimpia. Last Friday, they also beat Olimpia 1-0 away to climb into second place of the Paraguayan Torneo Apertura table, accumulating 19 points in ten rounds and trailing leaders Libertad by six. Rodrigo Lopez’s men hold a ten-match unbeaten streak of five victories and five draws in all competitions: they played as visitors in five of those, winning three and drawing two since losing to Libertad 1-0 in January.
Huracan has been struggling in every competition lately, Guarani will be more than happy with a draw and will try to play a slow game, so this should be a tight match with few chances.
