Copa Sudamericana: Guarani (Paraguay) vs Huracan (Argentina) odds for June 28, 2023

Guarani (Paraguay) vs Huracan (Argentina)

Guarani secured a massive point on their visit to CS Emelec following a 1-1 away draw in week five to stay as leaders in the Copa Sudamericana group B with one round to go. With eight points, the team are one above second-placed Danubio and two over their last opponents, which means they need a draw to clinch a spot in the playoff and a victory to secure a ticket to the round-of-16. Guarani closed their league campaign on June 10, drawing 0-0 at General Caballero away to end up in fourth spot of the Torneo Apertura table on 33 points in 22 matches. Coach Hernan Rodrigo Lopez left the club afterwards. The side are on four without a win in all competitions (drawing three and losing one) and they also remain winless in the last four as hosts (two stalemates and two defeats).

Meanwhile, Huracan succumbed to a heartbreaking 1-0 away defeat to Uruguay’s Danubio at Estadio Centenario, which dropped them down to the bottom spot of the group B table. El Globo remain on five points in as many matches in the Copa Sudamericana and need to win in Paraguay in order to continue in the competition (they even could win the group if Emelec vs Danubio ends in a draw). On Friday, Sebastian Battaglia’s men drew 1-1 at home against Newell’s Old Boys to make it 19 points in 21 league rounds, only one above the relegation place in that table. Huracan are on ten winless competitive matches (five draws and five losses). On the road, they remain without a win in the last 14, drawing four and losing ten.

Huracan can still advance if they win here, but they’ve been just terrible lately and I can’t see how they will win here considering the hosts also need a win to secure the 1st place, or at least a draw to advance.
