Centro Atletico Fenix drew 1-1 at Huachipato in Chile to make it 4-2 on aggregate and reach this round-of-16. Fenix also are on five home matches unbeaten, having won four and drawn one. On Wednesday, they will play as hosts at Montevideo Wanderers, as it’s usual in the Copa Sudamericana.
Independiente managed to take a 1-1 away draw at Atletico Tucuman, which made it 2-1 on aggregate to continue seeking their third Copa Sudamericana title. On Saturday, coach Lucas Pusineri rotated his players and it all ended in a sorry 0-0 home draw with CA Central Cordoba. El Rojo is second-placed in the Copa Liga Profesional’s Group 2 on six points, four behind Colon. The team have been unbeaten in their last eight competitive games, winning four and drawing the last four. Three of those took place on away turf, with Independiente taking five points in that span.
Independiente may have a better potential in their squad, but they’ve been playing really awful and Fenix seem more confident at the moment.
