Estudiantes (Argentina) vs Bragantino (Brazil)
Estudiantes showed an excellent display of football to beat Tacuary 4-0 away in Paraguay. Thanks to that victory, El Pincha are already through the group stage, accumulating ten points from 12 on offer in the Copa Sudamericana group C. However, they remain second-placed, trailing Red Bull Bragantino by goal difference, and will fight here for the chance of skipping the playoff to reaching the round-of-16. On Friday, Eduardo Dominguez’s men also beat Barracas Central 5-2 at home to extend their impressive unbeaten streak: it’s been 15 matches, winning 11 and drawing four. The side are sitting in fourth spot of the Argentine league table on 35 points at the moment. At home, Estudiantes are on nine matches without defeat, with seven victories and two stalemates.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Bragantino also have overcome the group stage thanks to a big 4-0 away victory at Oriente Petrolero. Massa Bruta remain leaders on ten points and a draw here would be good news for them in their fight to win group C and advance to the round-of-16. On Sunday, Pedro Caixinha’s men lost 2-1 away at Fluminense, a defeat that stopped their seven-match unbeaten streak of three wins and four draws. They dropped down to the 11th spot of the Brazilian league table on 13 points after nine rounds. Bragantino lost only one of their last six away matches, winning two and drawing three.
Estudiantes are in great form lately, they need a win here to take the 1st place of the group and I think they can do it against a Bragantino with some missings due to injuries.
