Deportivo Garcilaso wasted a big chance in their last Copa Sudamericana match, when they had to settle for a 1-1 home stalemate against EC Cuiaba. They now face Thursday’s game in third spot of the group G table, trailing second-placed Lanus by three at the moment. Last Saturday, the team drew 1-1 away at Carlos Mannucci to make it 13 points in 14 matches in Peruvian league action, occupying 14th spot of the table. Overall, Garcilaso won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions, drawing four and losing two. At home, Bernardo Redin’s men are winless in the last three, with two stalemates and one defeat in that spell.

Meanwhile, Lanus took a big step towards the next round in round three, when beating Metropolitanos FC 2-0 away in Venezuela thanks to a brace from Walter Bou. El Granate made it seven points in three matches in group G, trailing leaders Cuiaba EC (who already played in week four) by one), and will secure at least the second place in the event of winning here. Ricardo Zielinski’s men lost just two of their last seven official games, winning three and drawing two. On away turf, Lanus claimed five victories and one draw across the last seven, along with a single defeat.

Lanus has been quite solid in this competition so far and they need a win here to take back the 1st place of the group and I expect them to get it against this mediocre peruvian team that is going through a very poor run.
