Cruzeiro (Brazil) – Lanus (Argentina)
Cruzeiro EC haven’t found any difficulties to advance to the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals, drawing 1-1 against Libertad at home to make it 3-1 on aggregate. On Friday, they also drew 1-1 against EC Bahia, extending their five-game winless streak of four stalemates and one loss in all competitions. A Raposa are now sitting in eighth spot of the Brasileirao table on 44 points after 30 rounds. At home, Cruzeiro haven’t won any of the last four, drawing three and losing one in that spell.
Meanwhile, Lanus won on penalties after a 1-1 away draw at Independiente Medellin in Colombia to stay alive in their fight for the second Copa Sudamericana crown in history. On Friday, El Granate lost 2-0 too Independiente at home, making it nine matches without a win in all competitions (five stalemates and four losses). Ricardo Zielinski’s men are sitting into 22nd spot of the Liga Profesional table on 20 points after 18 rounds. Lanus also are winless in the last four as the visiting side, drawing two and losing two.
Lanus has been too irregular but poor lately with bad results in the league and good luck to advance in this competition after the penalties shootout against a team like Independiente Medellin who were expected to be inferior to them. They should struggle at Brazil so I’ll go with the hosts to win in this 1st leg.
