Arsenal (Argentina) vs Bolivar (Bolivia)
Sarandi Arsenal keep their hope alive in the Copa Sudamericana. In spite of having conceded first, the team beat Jorge Wilstermann 2-1 away in week five to climb into second spot in group C on eight points, one behind leaders Ceara SC. That means they need to beat Bolivar and wait for the table toppers to fail to win at Wilstermann to advance to the round-of-16. Overall, Sergio Rondina’s men have been unbeaten in their last four competitive games, winning two and drawing two. At home, they haven’t lost any of the last six (two successes and four stalemates).
Bolivar are almost out of the Copa Sudamericana after their 2-0 away defeat to Ceara SC in round five. Following that result, La Academia remain on six points and are trailing their last opponents by three and a five-goal-difference margin. In fact, coach Jose Ignacio Gonzalez has been dismissed although the club had been on a seven-match unbeaten run of three victories and four draws beforehand and are sharing the top of the league table with The Strongest and Nacional Potosi, having accumulated 16 points from 21 available. On a sorry note, Bolivar lost five of their last eight away matches, winning one and drawing two.
To advance Arsenal needs to win and hope that Ceara doesn’t, and they should be able to at least get the win that would give them a chance to advance.
