Defensa y Justicia reversed the score to take an important 2-1 away success at Sportivo Luqueno last Wednesday. Therefore, the team would advance to the round-of-16 even losing 1-0 at home. Last Sunday, coach Hernan Crespo rotated his players and the side lost 3-0 to Colon at their own stadium in the return of Argentine football. In fact, El Halcon lost three of their last four matches in all competition, with the exception of this round’s first leg. At home, Defensa had won three in a row before their recent loss in the league.
Sportivo Luqueno will need to score at least twice to keep their hope alive after losing 2-1 as hosts (at Sol de America) last week. On Saturday, the team managed a 1-0 away win at General Diaz thanks to Blas Diaz’s goal in stoppage time to make it six points in three rounds in the Paraguayan Torneo Clausura. That victory also stopped Luqueno’s five-game winless run on away turf (two draws and three defeats).
Defensa turned the game around in the 1st leg and last weekend lost 0-3 showing that while they are still good in attack, they are also completely unreliable in defense. The visitors have to go for a win so this should be an open game with goals.
