Talleres (Argentina) – Cobresal (Chile)
Talleres secured their ticket to the Copa Libertadores’ round-of-16 thanks to a convincing 3-1 home success over Ecuador’s Barcelona SC last Wednesday. The team are now group B leaders on ten points, leading second-placed Sao Paulo by one. In addition, La T also won 3-1 away at Independiente on Saturday in the Liga Profesional opener, which allowed them to enter the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. La T are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions, having won three and drawn four. At home, they haven’t lost any of the last eight (six victories and two draws).
CD Cobresal couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up losing 3-1 to Sao Paulo FC from Brazil at home in week four, a result that left them without any chances to advance to the round-of-16. El Minero are bottom-placed in group accumulating a single point, trailing third-placed Barcelona SC by one, which gives them a chance of fighting for a ticket to the Copa Sudamericana playoff. On Saturday, Gustavo Huerta’s men drew 3-3 away at Everton SADP, making it three competitive matches without a win (two draws and one loss) and staying in 14th spot of the Chilean league table on 11 points after 12 rounds, just two above the relegation zone. Cobresal won only one of their last nine away matches, drawing three and losing five in that spell.
Talleres are already through to the next round but now they need to secure the 1st place to get home advantage. The chilean team are out of chances and have big things to worry about considering they are too close to the relegation zone in their local league so I don’t expect them to care about this game and Talleres should win it without any problems.
