Meanwhile, Liverpool FC succumbed to a heavy blow in round four, losing 5-0 to Brazil’s SE Palmeiras at Estadio Centenario. That defeat dropped them down to the bottom of the group G table, but they are still alive accumulating four points and trailing second-placed San Lorenzo by goal difference. Liverpool won two, drew one and lost two of their last five away matches.
If San Lorenzo wins here they would take a 3 points distance over the 3rd placed teams with only one game left so the equation is simple for them: they must win and try to do it by as many goals as possible because the goals difference could be a big factor in the last game. Liverpool has a terrible goals difference after the 0-5 at home in the previous game, they can’t be happy with a draw here so they will have to take risks and open things up for the hosts.
