River Plate (Argentina) vs Colo Colo (Chile)
River Plate grabbed an important point on their visit to Fortaleza EC in matchweek four, when drawing 1-1. The team made it ten points from 12 available to remain as group F leaders and need only one more point to secure their ticket to the Libertadores’ round of 16 on Wednesday following Fortaleza’s 2-0 win at Alianza. El Millonario played their last competitive game on May 11, when they lost 2-1 at home to Tigre and were knocked out of the Copa Liga Profesional in the quarter-finals. That defeat stopped two unbeaten streaks: five matches overall (three wins and two draws) and four games at Estadio Monumental (El Millonario won three and drew one).
Colo Colo still have work to do in the Copa Libertadores following their disappointing 1-1 away draw at bottom-placed Alianza Lima two weeks ago. El Cacique are now second-placed in group F on seven points, tied with Fortaleza EC, which means Gustavo Quinteros’ men need 4 more points to advance to the round of 16. On Saturday, Colo Colo thrashed Coquimbo Unido 4-0 at home to remain as league leaders on 25 points in 13 matches, two above Nublense. The team are on three games unbeaten in all competitions, winning two and drawing one, and they lost only one of the last seven on the road (four wins, two draws).
River with many missings due to covid and some injuries, they will be happy with at least a draw, same as Colo Colo so I expect this to be a cautious game.
