Racing Club (Argentina) vs Flamengo (Brazil)
Racing Club celebrated a massive 3-2 home success over Ecuador’s SD Aucas in week two, thanks to an own goal from Wilker Angel in the 86th minute. La Academia made it six points in two Copa Libertadores’ games in 2023, becoming the only group A leaders at the moment. However, things get a bit more complicated in the league: last Saturday, the team lost 3-1 away at Boca Juniors, dropping down to 14th spot of the Liga Profesional table on 18 points. In fact, Racing lost four of their last six games in all competitions, winning one and drawing one. At home, they registered four victories, two draws and two losses in 2023.
Meanwhile, Flamengo secured their first three points in this competition two weeks ago, when they claimed an easy 2-0 home success over CD Nublense. They are now second-placed and trailing group A leaders by three. On Sunday, O Rubro Negro succumbed to an unexpected 3-2 home defeat to Botafogo, which means they remain on three points in as many games of league action. The side claimed three victories and suffered two defeats across their last five matches in all competitions, but they also are on four losses in a row on away turf.
Racing have been terrible lately, conceding too many goals, and they will face this Flamengo that needs a win after losing the 1st game of the group so I expect to see goals here.
