Liverpool (Uruguay) vs Argentinos Jrs (Argentina)

Liverpool FC are yet to earn points in the Copa Libertadores group E following their 2-0 away defeat at Independiente del Valle two weeks ago. On a positive note, the team beat Boston River 3-1 away last Friday to put an end to their three-game winless streak of two draws and one loss in all competitions. El Negriazul are producing a decent campaign in the Uruguayan Torneo Apertura, sitting in sixth spot on 20 points after 13 matches. Liverpool lost only one of their last five matches as the hosting side, along with three victories and one stalemate in that spell.

Thanks to a strike from Santiago Montiel in the first half, Argentinos Juniors secured a massive 1-0 away victory at SC Corinthians following a great display of football. As a result, the team are group E leaders on six points having not even conceded in two games. Last Friday, coach Gabriel Milito fielded an alternative XI and it all ended 0-0 away at Newell’s Old Boys, which places them in 11th spot of the Liga Profesional table on 19 points after 14 rounds. Overall, Argentinos lost only one of their last five in all competitions (winning two and drawing two). On away turf, they registered two wins, three draws and four losses in 2023.

Can’t see Argentinos having much trouble to beat this Liverpool who have been terrible in this competition so far and will have several important missings like goalkeeper Sebastian Lentinelli, left back Agustin Cayetano and defensive midfielder Lucas Lemos who are all out injured.
