Internacional (Brazil) vs River Plate (Argentina)
SC Internacional wasted a valuable 1-0 lead on their visit to River Plate last Tuesday and ended up losing 2-1, which means they need to win at home in order to keep their hope alive. Last Saturday, O Colorado registered a 2-2 home stalemate against SC Corinthians to stay occupying 12th spot of the Brazilian league table on 24 points after the first 18 rounds. The team remain without a win in their last seven competitive matches, with four draws and three losses in that time. Four of those games took place at home, drawing three and losing one.
Thanks to a brace from Pablo Solari, River Plate celebrated a big 2-1 home success over SC Internacional last Tuesday and they only need to avoid the defeat in Porto Alegre to reach the quarter-finals. The Argentine league champions are still waiting to defend their title since August 18th. El Millonario have been unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions, winning two and drawing one. On a sorry note, they also have been without a win in their last three on the road, having registered two stalemates and one loss.
Last week we had an open game with both teams scoring, and I expect the same here considering Internacional must win and that River is always dangerous in attack.
