Flamengo (Brazil) – Peñarol (Uruguay)

CR Flamengo had enough to reach the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals after suffering a 1-0 away defeat to Bolivar in the return leg of the round of 16, winning 2-1 on aggregate. On Sunday, they settled for a 1-1 home stalemate against CR Vasco da Gama, making it 45 points to occupy fourth spot in the Brasileirao table. O Rubro Negro succumbed to a single defeat across their last five matches in all competitions, winning three and drawing one in that time. At home, Flamengo remain unbeaten in the last eight, with six victories and two draws.

CA Penarol found it easy to advance to this round despite losing 1-0 away to The Strongest in the return leg of the round of 16 as they celebrated a 4-1 aggregate success. On Saturday, El Carbonero beat Rampla Juniors 4-0 at home to make it seven points in three rounds of Torneo Clausura action (trailing leaders Danubio by two). Diego Aguirre’s men lost only one of their last nine matches in regular time, winning six and drawing two. On away turf, Penarol won three and lost one of the last four.

All Quarterfinals games so far this week have been underish and I expect the same thing here. Peñarol is a tough team, they will try to play slow football and hold to the draw from the 1st minute, so I expect to see a tight game maybe decided by one goal.
