Colon vs Talleres

 

Colon secured an important 1-1 away draw at Talleres last week, which means they now have the chance of winning at home to reach the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals for the second time in history. Last Saturday, coach Julio Falcioni fielded an alternative XI, which ended up losing 1-0 away defeat at Godoy Cruz. El Sabalero accumulated only five points in six games in the Liga Profesional and remain far away from the last continental spot in the aggregate table. The team are winless in their last five games in all competitions, drawing two and losing three in regular time. At home, they lost to Huracan in their last match to stop a three-match unbeaten streak of two wins and one draw.

Talleres will have to win on the road in order to avoid the penalty shootout following their 1-1 home draw against Colon in the first leg last Wednesday. On Saturday, the team drew 1-1 away at Tigre to make it five points in the Liga Profesional. In fact, La T have been the worst team in the 2022 league season, occupying the bottom spot of the aggregate table with only 16 points in 20 games. Talleres are on seven winless matches in all competition, having drawn four and lost three in regular time since beating Sarmiento 2-0 at home in early June. They lost eight of their last 13 away matches, drawing four and winning only one of those.

Neither is at their best moment but I rate Colon as the best team here and the favorite to advance.
