Independiente Medellin has been a mess this year since winning the Colombian cup last year. They’ve lost almost every good player they had including their all-time top scorer, a very good playmaker and their best defensive midfielder, and replaced them only with unknowns and youngsters, so it was not a surprise when their coach, club legend Aldo Bobadilla, resigned last week.
Since football returned in Colombia, they lost 3 out of 4 games and got only a draw at home last weekend against the weak Deportivo Pereira. They are completely eliminated from this competition with 0 points and 9 goals conceded in 4 games, including a 2-3 defeat at home against tonight’s rival Caracas, which was the first-ever win for a Venezuelan team at Colombia.
The hosts are tied in the 2nd place with Libertad, and considering their last game is at Argentina vs Boca, they definitely have to win this one if they want to advance.
