Caracas (Venezuela) – Rosario Central (Argentina)

Caracas FC are one of the worst teams in the Copa Libertadores this season. In week two, the team were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a heavy 5-0 away defeat to Penarol in Uruguay to stay pointless in group G. On Friday, they also lost 1-0 away at Carabobo. Los Demonios Rojos finished in 11th spot of the Venezuelan Torneo Apertura table, accumulating just 12 points in 13 matches. Caracas are winless in their last 13 matches in this competition, drawing six and losing seven. At home, they haven’t won any of the last six (two stalemates and four defeats).

Meanwhile, Rosario Central put up a good fight on their visit to Atletico Mineiro in Belo Horizonte, but they ended up losing 2-1. El Canalla remain on three points in group G, dropping down to third spot and trailing second-placed Penarol by goal difference at the moment. Last Wednesday, Miguel Russo’s men drew 1-1 against Deportivo Riestra, finishing in 11th spot of the group A table in the Copa Liga Profesional, having grabbed just 15 points in 14 matches. El Canalla are without a win in their last three games (one draw and two defeats) and also are going through a five-match losing streak on away turf.

Rosario Central are not as solid as they were last year but they had a good start in this tournament and it’s of course their main priority and the only thing they are playing now until the new league season starts next month. Caracas have been just terrible with 9 goals conceded in 2 games in this competition and a totally forgettable season in the Venezuelan league, so Rosario Central should win here.
