Boston River (Uruguay) vs Huracan (Argentina)
CA Boston River are experiencing their first campaign in the Copa Libertadores (4th in the Uruguayan league in 2022) and they advanced to the second round thanks to a 4-1 aggregate win over Venezuelan side Zamora (beating them 1-0 away in the return leg last Thursday). On Sunday, coach Daniel Farias repeated most of his starters but they ended up losing 1-0 away at Penarol, which means they collected three points in as many games in the domestic Torneo Apertura so far. El Boston won one and lost two of their last three competitive matches overall and they also were beaten in their last home match (3-0 to CA Cerro at Juventud Las Piedras) to stop a four-game unbeaten streak of three wins and one draw as the hosting side (even though they don’t have an own stadium). Wednesday’s game will take place at Estadio Centenario.
Huracan will make their fifth appearance in this competition after finishing in fifth spot in the Argentine 2022 aggregate table (having reached the semifinal round in 1974). El Globo are currently playing in great style: their 2-0 home victory over Barracas Central on Friday led them to the second place of the league table on ten points in four rounds, just two behind leaders Lanus. In fact, Diego Dabove’s men have been unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions, winning four and drawing one in that spell.
Huracan is looking even more solid now than last year, they are undefeated after 4 rounds of the argentinian league with 9 goals scored, the opposite of Boston River in the uruguayan tournament with only 3 points and 2 goals scored after 3 games.
There will be very little or none home advantage here since Boston River is a very small club and they will play in the big Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, just a small trip from Buenos Aires so I’d expect more Huracan fans here than those of the home team, given them a good advantage to continue their great run and start this competition with a win.
