Last Friday, El Xeneize also beat Platense 3-1 at home in their Copa Liga Profesional opener to climb into one of the Copa Libertadores’ places in the Argentine league 2023 aggregate table. Overall, Jorge Almiron’s men are on 11 competitive matches unbeaten, having won eight and drawn three. At home, Boca haven’t lost any of their last 12, with ten victories and two stalemates in that time.
Meanwhile, Racing Club had to reverse the aggregate score against Atletico Nacional and made it 5-4 thanks to a 3-0 home victory in the return leg. On Friday, an alternative XI had enough to secure a 1-1 away draw at Union Santa Fe in the Copa Liga Profesional opening round, a result that leaves them far behind the continental spots in the aggregate table. Racing claimed a single victory across their last four competitive matches (along with one stalemate and two defeats) while they remain winless in the last four on away turf, drawing two and losing two.
Big derby in Libertadores Quarterfinals, Boca has improved lately and their confidence is high right now, Edinson Cavani scored his 1st goal last weekend so while the series looks quite open and it’s difficult to predict a winner, I can definitely imagine at least 2 goals here between these two good attacking teams.
