Boca Juniors (Argentina) vs Corinthians (Brazil)
Boca Juniors secured a massive 1-0 away success at Always Ready in Bolivia thanks to a penalty netted by Eduardo Salvio to climb into second spot in group E on six points, one behind leaders Corinthians and one above third-placed Deportivo Cali. Last Saturday, El Xeneize beat Racing Club on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Lanus to advance to the Copa Liga Profesional’s final. Sebastian Battaglia’s men are on five matches unbeaten in all competition, winning four and drawing one in regular time, but their last defeat was to Corinthians (2-0 away). At home, Boca haven’t suffered any losses in the last six games, with three wins and three draws in that spell.
Meanwhile, Corinthians managed a valuable point on their visit to Deportivo Cali in matchweek four, drawing 0-0 away to remain at the top of the Copa Libertadores group E on seven points. Last Saturday, O Timao drew 2-2 away at SC Internacional to stay as league leaders, accumulating 13 points in six rounds so far. In fact, Vitor Pereira’s men are on six games unbeaten in all competitions, winning four and drawing two. On away turf, Corinthians lost only one of the last six, having claimed two victories and three stalemates in the process,
Boca has improved lately but in my opinion not enough to beat a tough rival like Corinthians, the leader of the group.
