Boca (Argentina) vs Internacional (Brazil)

Carlos Tevez’s goal in the second half gave Boca Juniors a valuable 1-0 away success at Internacional. That means they will advance to the quarter-finals for the fifth year in a row in the event of avoiding the defeat at home. On Sunday, El Xeneize drew 0-0 away at Talleres to end up at the top of group 4 table in the Copa Liga Profesional on ten points, having qualified for the Fase Campeonato (to be played from next weekend on). Boca are on three games unbeaten in all competitions, winning two and drawing one. At home, they beat Newell’s Old Boys 2-0 ten days ago to stop a two-game losing run.

Meanwhile, Internacional will need to win in Argentina after losing 1-0 at home to Boca Juniors last Wednesday. The team drew 2-2 at Atletico Mineiro on Sunday to occupy the last Copa Libertadores place (sixth) on 38 points, leading Palmeiras by goal difference. Abel Braga’s men are on four matches without a win in all competitions, having drawn two and lost two. On away turf, they drew two and lost two of the last five and their only win was at America Mineiro in the national cup, when they ended up losing on penalties though.

Boca were the clear winners last week at Brazil and I expect them to confirm their place in the Quarterfinals with another win.
