Boca (Argentina) vs Colo Colo (Chile)
Boca Juniors succumbed to their first defeat in the 2023 Copa Libertadores last time out, when they ended up losing 1-0 away at Colombia’s Deportivo Pereira following a poor performance. However, they remain as group F leaders on seven points (alongside their last opponents) and will clinch a ticket to the round-of-16 in the event of winning on Tuesday. Last Thursday, El Xeneize also lost 1-0 away at relegation candidates Sarandi Arsenal, which means they remain on 27 points in 19 rounds of league action, occupying tenth spot of the Liga Profesional table. Boca won one and lost two of their last three competitive games, but also are on four wins in a row at their own stadium.
Meanwhile, Colo Colo took a massive point on their visit to Monagas SC through a 1-1 away draw, considering the team netted the equaliser in the 86th minute via Marcos Bolados. However, El Cacique are sitting in third spot of the group F table on five points, trailing Boca Juniors and Deportivo Pereira by two. The team are sitting in fifth spot of the Chilean league table with 23 points in 15 rounds: the action will resume in July. Overall, Colo Colo are on three matches without a win, drawing two and losing one. However, they remain unbeaten in the last seven on away turf, with two victories and five stalemates.
As bad as Boca has been playing lately and even without striker Sebastian Villa who left the club after being convicted of gender violence, I can’t imagine Boca not winning this game. With the 3 points they will secure a place in the next round, and they should be able to do it against this chilean side who they already beat last month.
