Copa Libertadores: Argentinos Jrs (Argentina) – River Plate (Argentina) Odds for July 21, 2021

Argentinos Jrs (Argentina) – River Plate (Argentina)

Thanks to Gabriel Hauche’s strike, Argentinos Juniors returned home with a valuable 1-1 away stalemate at River Plate last Wednesday. That means they would reach the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals in the event of keeping a clean sheet at home. Last Sunday, coach Gabriel Milito fielded an alternative XI that had enough to secure a scoreless away stalemate at Independiente in the league opener. El Bicho are on three games without a win in all competitions (two draws, one defeat), but they also won five of the last eight at home, only losing to Universidad Catolica from Chile in that span.

River Plate will need to score at least once to keep their hope alive following their disappointing 1-1 home draw against Argentinos Juniors in the first leg. Furthermore, the alternative squad lost 2-1 at home to Colon in the league opener on Sunday. El Millonario are winless in their last three competitive games, having drawn one and lost two since beating Independiente Santa Fe at home in May. On away turf, they haven’t won any of the last five (four stalemates and one defeat).

River has been a mess lately, Argentinos has been very strong, so I don’t understand why they have to be such big underdogs at home.
