Gimnasia LP conceded in stoppage time and ended up losing 2-1 at Colon last Monday in a six-pointer relegation clash. Having collected a single point this term, the team remain bottom in the points average table and won’t leave the drop zone for at least two more rounds. El Lobo are winless in their last five games in Superliga competitions, losing three of them. At home, Gimnasia lost three of their last four matches, only beating Defensa y Justicia 1-0 in that process.
Defensa y Justicia boss Mariano Soso is not enjoying his first weeks at the club. Last term’s league runners-up are still to earn points this season following a 3-0 home defeat to Sarandi Arsenal last Sunday. That also means El Halcon are winless in their last eight matches in all Superliga competitions, with two draws and six defeats. To make matters worse, Defensa earned a single point in their last four away games.
Gimnasia needs to start getting points ASAP, while Defensa is definitely not the same team they were last season. Both need a win desperately so I’m surprised to see such a low totals line and I have to go with the OVER.
