Banfield vs River
Banfield don’t give up on their fight to qualify for the playoffs. Last Sunday, the team secured a hard-fought 1-0 away success at Patronato thanks to a strike from Giuliano Galoppo. As a result, the team made it 14 points in group A, trailing fourth-placed Union Santa Fe by three after winning two of their last three league matches (along with a single defeat). On a sorry note, El Taladro are on two consecutive losses at their own stadium in domestic action (having lost to Defensa y Justicia and Argentinos Juniors).
River Plate made it two consecutive victories in the Copa Liga Profesional last Sunday, when they managed to beat Argentinos Juniors 4-2 at home in an entertaining match. Having won six of their last eight league matches (one draw and one defeat), El Millonario remain second-placed in group A on 19 points, just two behind leaders Racing Club. Furthermore, Marcelo Gallardo’s men won their last three domestic games on the road (over Newell’s Old Boys, San Lorenzo and Defensa y Justicia).
Once again, if River is playing I have to expect goals as they are the best attacking team in the league.
