Velez vs Tigre

Velez Sarsfield had to settle for a heartbreaking result last Friday as they ended up drawing 1-1 away at Argentinos Juniors after conceding the equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time, even playing against ten men. However, they are still Liga Profesional leaders, accumulating 39 points and tied with Huracan after losing only one of their last 15 in this competition (winning ten and drawing four in that spell). At home, Velez are on 15 unbeaten, with 11 victories and four stalemates since losing to Independiente 1-0 in January.

Tigre wasted a big chance last Sunday when they showed a worrying version and had to settle for a scoreless home stalemate in a heated derby against Platene at home. In fact, even though El Matador are unbeaten in their last five league games (two victories and three draws), they accumulated 26 points in the Liga Profesional, just enough to hold a one-point gap over the relegation spot in the aggregate table, occupied by Sarmiento. Tigre lost only one of their last five as the visiting side, winning two and drawing two.

Velez should bounce back here to re-take the lead of the leguae and even though the visitors have improved lately, I expect the hosts to take a very needed win.
