Velez vs Independiente
Velez Sarsfield are back on track after their forgettable 7-1 home defeat to Boca Juniors. Last weekend, they beat Talleres 1-0 away thanks to a strike from Luca Orellano in the second half to make it 12 points from 15 available. That allows them to be leaders in group B alongside Independiente after five rounds.
Independiente climbed into the top of group B table on 12 points (sharing the leadership with Velez Sarsfield) following an outstanding performance last Monday, when they thrashed Sarmiento 6-0 at home to make it four consecutive victories in league action. Sebastian Palacios, Silvio Romero and Jonathan Menendez scored twice each. El Rojo also are on four league successes in a row on away turf since losing to Huracan 3-2 in December 2020.
The two leaders of Group A meet here and I have to go with Independiente not to lose, as they are coming from a massive 6-0 win and their confidence is really high now.
