Velez vs Barracas Central
Velez Sarsfield succumbed to their first defeat in coach Ricardo Gareca’s second spell at the club last Tuesday, when they ended up losing 1-0 away at Instituto in a hard-fought game. El Fortin are on three league games without a win, having drawn two and lost one in that time, and now they are occupying one of the mid-table places on 14 points. On a positive note, Velez suffered a single defeat at Estadio Jose Amalfitani this season, along with two victories and three draws as the hosting side.
Barracas Central returned to winning ways last Tuesday, when they secured a hard-fought 1-0 home success over Platense thanks to a goal from Nicolas Capraro in the first half. The team put an end to their five-game winless streak of two draws and three defeats in league action to accumulate 12 points in the Liga Profesional table, opening a five-point gap over bottom-placed Union Santa Fe. However, coach Rodolfo De Paoli resigned after the game. On a sorry note, El Guapo are on four away matches without a win, having drawn one and lost three since beating Sarmiento 5-3 in round two.
Can’t imagine anything but a home win here for Velez against this poor Barracas that just changed coach and are terrible when playing away.
