Velez Sarsfield vs Patronato
Velez Sarsfield are the first team to secure their ticket to the league playoffs following their 2-1 away victory over Lanus last Sunday, when they fielded an alternative XI and conceded the opener. Mauricio Pellegrino’s men lost only one of their last seven games in this competition, winning five and drawing one, which places them at the top of group B table on 25 points, six above Boca Juniors in second spot. El Fortin also are on three consecutive home victories in the Copa Liga Profesional. On Tuesday 27, Velez lost 3-1 at LDU Quito in a Copa Libertadores group game.
In the context of a poor campaign, Patronato are starting to show improvements. Last time out, they beat newly-promoted side Sarmiento 1-0 at home with Martin Garay finding the winner in the second half. Therefore, the team won three of their last four league games (alongside a single defeat). Ivan Delfino’s men remain bottom in group B on nine points, but that positive run allowed them to leapfrog their last opponents in the points average table.
Velez has already qualified for the playoffs stage and they come from a very tiring trip to the altitude of Quito, Ecuador, so they will field a lineup full of reserves and I expect  Patronato to fight here and take something from this game.
