Velez – Central Cordoba

Velez Sarsfield returned to their usual standards last Saturday, when the team showed a worrying performance and succumbed to a 2-0 away defeat at Argentinos Juniors. That result put an end to El Fortin’s two-match winning streak in league action. Alexander Medina’s men have produced a terrible campaign in the Liga Profesional so far, accumulating 25 points in 26 matches. On a positive note, Velez are on four consecutive victories as the home side. However, they will host this one at Boca Juniors as Estadio Jose Amalfitani is now unavailable due to different musical shows.

With striker Renzo Lopez in superb form (he netted a hat-trick), CA Central Cordoba secured a massive 4-1 away success at Union Santa Fe last Saturday. That victory allowed them to break a three-match losing streak in league action and the team managed to accumulate 34 points in the Liga Profesional (safe from relegation since several weeks ago). On the road, El Ferroviario have been decent lately: they won three of their last four away matches, only losing to Sarandi Arsenal in that spell.

Relaxed game between two teams with nothing to play for, Central Cordoba comes from scoring 4 and I expect this to be another open game.
