Union vs Sarmiento

Union Santa Fe striker Jonathan Alvez missed a penalty last Sunday and his team had to settle for a scoreless draw away at Patronato. That result extended their winless streak to five matches in league action (two draws and three defeats). Following this negative streak, El Tatengue are now on 23 points in the Liga Profesional (one game in hand), which places them four points behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table. At home, Union succumbed to a single loss across their last six home matches in this competition, winning three and drawing two.

Sarmiento celebrated a massive 2-1 away success over Aldosivi in a six-pointer regarding relegation last Saturday, with Luciano Gondou and Lisandro Lopez finding the back of the net. They managed to break a four-match winless run of two draws and two defeats in league action and made it 22 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to continue escaping the drop threats and approaching the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. El Verde lost only one of their last four games on the road, winning two and drawing one in that spell. Striker Jonatan Torres and left back Franco Quinteros returns after overcoming an ankle problem.

I like this very motivated Sarmiento that has been a tough team for most of their rivals and I expect them to be able to hold this irregular Union and take something from this game.
