Union vs Sarmiento
Union Santa Fe remain unbeaten this season following their scoreless away draw at Newell’s Old Boys in a boring game last Friday. Juan Manuel Azconzabal’s men have produced a good campaign so far, accumulating ten points to occupy fourth spot in group B, leading Lanus (the first outside the playoff zone) by goal difference. At home, El Tatengue took five points from nine available after securing one victory and two draws this term.
In spite of having succumbed to a Covid outbreak before the game, Sarmiento showed a great display of effort to claim their first win of the season last Sunday, when beating Defensa y Justicia 3-1 at home. That victory allowed them to break a seven-match winless run of five draws and two defeats in league action. Having accumulated six points in as many games, Mario Sciacqua’s men climbed from 26th to 21st spot in the point-average table.
Last week Sarmiento surprised everyone by beating Defensa y Justicia despite a major COVID outbreak that this week got even worse as they will miss more players, so I can’t expect anything different from a home win.
