Argentine Primera Division: Union vs Newell’s Odds for April 09, 2022

Union vs Newell’s

Union Santa Fe’s three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw in league action came to an end in round eight, when the team ended up losing 2-1 away at Patronato following a disappointing performance. As a result, Gustavo Munua’s men remain on 14 points and have been displaced from the qualifying spots in group A. However, El Tatengue have been confident at their own stadium lately: they won the last six domestic home matches in a row. On Wednesday 6, Union drew 1-1 at home against Junior from Colombia in a Copa Sudamericana group game.

Newell’s Old Boys climbed into one of the playoff spots in group A following their 3-1 home success over Platense last Sunday. Javier Sanguinetti’s men are on five league matches unbeaten, having won four and drawn one to make it 16 points in the Copa Liga Profesional, two behind group leaders Racing Club. On away turf, La Lepra managed seven points from the last nine available, winning two and drawing one since losing to Argentinos Juniors in round two. Midfielders Pablo Perez and Julian Fernandez have both served their respective suspensions and are available.

Union has been amazing at home, but they come from a defeat against the terrible Patronato and midweek they had a tough Copa Sudamericana battle against Junior, so I have to expect a tired team and this rising Newell’s could take advantage of this.
