Union vs Lanus
Union Santa Fe are going through a difficult moment. Last Tuesday, the team succumbed to a devastating 2-0 away defeat to CA Central Cordoba. As a result, El Tatengue are now on three league matches without a win (drawing one and losing two). Accumulating only 12 points in the Copa Liga Profesional, Cristian Gonzalez’s men are now sharing the relegation spot in the aggregate table with Colon, Huracan and Sarmiento. At home, Union are unbeaten in their last 11 matches (four victories and seven draws). Centre back Nicolas Paz has served his one-match suspension and is available.
Lanus continue to improve under recently-appointed coach Ricardo Zielinski. On Monday, the team showed a good version to beat Belgrano (who were group B leaders beforehand) 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Jonatan Torres and Luciano Boggio. El Granate made it three league matches unbeaten since the new boss’ arrival, winning two and drawing one. As a result, they accumulated ten points in the Copa Liga Profesional to return to the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Lanus are without a win in their last eight on the road (three stalemates and five defeats).
Lanus has been better than Union lately but they won’t have their two best strikers, the legendary Lautaro Acosta and Leandro Diaz, and their best defender and captain Diego Braghieri, all due to injuries, and this should be a good opportunity for the hosts to get the win they really need to get away from the relegation spot when there are only 3 games left.
