Union vs Instituto

Union Santa Fe showed an improved version with regard to last year in the season opener, but it wasn’t enough to claim three points at Banfield: they only grabbed one as it all ended scoreless. That result extended El Tatengue’s winless streak to five league matches (three stalemates and two defeats since beating Sarandi Arsenal 1-0 in early October). In fact, Union succumbed to three losses across their last four matches at Estadio 15 de Abril, along with a single win in that spell.

Instituto made their return to the first division after being relegated in 2006 with a scoreless home draw against Sarmiento in an uneventful match. Thanks to this point, they are now sharing the bottom of the relegation table with Belgrano and Sarandi Arsenal. Coach Lucas Bovaglio has a lot of work to do in order to improve his team even though they are now on six league matches without defeat (two victories and four draws), counting last season in the second tier.

Both come from scoreless draws in the 1st round with barely any shots at goal, and I don’t expect this to change as they should still be poor attacking teams all season.
