Union vs Huracan
Unión Santa Fe showed their best version last weekend, shining in a 4-0 away win over Instituto. With that result, Leonardo Madelón’s men snapped a three-match winless run in the league (two draws and one defeat), reaching eight points in the Torneo Clausura and, more importantly, moving four clear of the relegation zone in the aggregate table. At home, El Tatengue are unbeaten in their last five league matches, with two wins and three draws. All starters are available for this Sunday.
After a poor start to the semester, Huracán are slowly finding their best form. Last weekend, the team (fielding a mostly alternative XI) took advantage of their numerical superiority to defeat Argentinos Juniors 1-0 at home thanks to an Agustín Urzi goal in the 87th minute. It was their third straight league win without conceding, allowing them to reach nine points in the Torneo Clausura and strengthen their place in the Copa Sudamericana qualification zone on the aggregate table. El Globo have also lost just one of their last four away matches in this competition (winning two and drawing one in regulation time). On Tuesday, August 19, Huracán lost 3-1 at home to Once Caldas of Colombia in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16, being knocked out.
Union comes from their best performance in a while, destroying Instituto easily in just 20 minutes and Huracan has to be tired and hurt after the Copa Sudamericana elimination in a 1-3 defeat at home in a match played in the mud under very heavy rain. They also won’t have important defender Nehuen Paz, so I’ll go for the hosts here to continue the good trend.
