Union vs Boca

Union Santa Fe new coach Cristian Gonzalez had a disappointing debut at the club: his team succumbed to a narrow 1-0 away defeat at Atletico Tucuman in a hard-fought match. That defeat put an end to their six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two stalemates as El Tatengue remain on 23 points, now just four above the relegation spot in the aggregate table, occupied by Huracan. At home, Union are on three matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing one since losing to Sarmiento 2-0 in May.

Boca Juniors showed an enjoyable second half and managed an important 2-0 home success over Sarmiento last Sunday, with Miguel Merentiel and Cristian Medina netting the back of the net. As a result, Jorge Almiron’s men stopped a three-match winless streak of one draw and two defeats and made it 31 points in the league table, trailing the last Copa Libertadores’ spot (occupied by Lanus) by nine at the moment. Boca lost four of their last six away matches in domestic action, winning one and drawing one in that spell.

Despite last weekend’s defeat, Union is much more improved from what they were at the beginning of the season, so I’ll trust them here against this very irregular Boca that still has many injured players.
