Union vs Atletico Tucuman
Union Santa Fe left worrying impressions last Tuesday on their visit to Independiente, when they were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to an unexpected 3-0 away defeat. That result put an end to their two-match winning run in league action and left them on 33 points in the Liga Profesional, which is however a very good campaign, enough to stay into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. Union beat Newell’s Old Boys 3-0 in their last home match after two consecutive losses at Estadio 15 de Abril. Centre back Nicolas Paz is suspended after seeing a red card at Independiente.
Atletico Tucuman seem to be finding their best version. Last Monday, the team secured an important 1-0 home success over Sarmiento thanks to a goal from Marcelo Estigarribia in the first half. El Decano made it three league games unbeaten, winning two and drawing one to accumulate 33 points in the Liga Profesional. This excellent campaign allowed them to secure their spot in the top flight for next season and to hold onto a tiny chance of fighting for a continental ticket. On a sorry note, Atletico earned just two points from the last 15 on offer as the visiting side. Nicolas Romero and Renzo Tesuri have both reached the yellow-card limit and are suspended for Saturday.
6 of the last 8 Union games had at least a couple of goals, and they conceded in 7 of them showing how weak defensively they’ve been and without Nicolas Paz in this game they could be in trouble so I’ll go for the OVER here.
