Union Santa Fe finished in 16th spot in the 2019/20 aggregate table following a 1-1 home draw with Sarandi Arsenal. El Tatengue won one of their last seven top-flight matches (two draws and four defeats) and managed only two points in the last four domestic home games.
They lost 1-0 at home to Ecuador’s Emelec on Thursday 29 in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana’s round-of-32 and will play the return game at Ecuador in a few days so their new coach will field a completely alternative XI with at least two players making their debuts.
Sarandi Arsenal earned 35 points in 24 matches in 2019/20 after a 1-1 draw at Union Santa Fe. However, they won only one of the last eight games (five draws, two defeats) El Viaducto are winless in the last four on the road, drawing three and losing one.
They’ve gone through some big renewing of their squad during the offseason but added some interesting players like striker Lucas Albertengo and offensive midfielder Alan Ruiz.
Union looked clueless during their midweek Copa Sudamericana game and I can’t expect anything better from their alternative squad.
