Tigre vs Sarmiento
Thanks to a penalty netted by Mateo Retegui, Tigre managed a point on their visit to Godoy Cruz last Sunday, when they drew 1-1 away in an intense game. El Matador are performing an irregular campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 12 points in ten matches after claiming a single victory across the last five (alongside one stalemate and three defeats). At home, Diego Martinez’s men have been struggling this term, grabbing four points in as many matches in league action as a product of one win, one draw and two losses.
Last Saturday, Sarmiento celebrated a much-needed 2-0 home success over Argentinos Juniors thanks to goals from Manuel Monaco and Lucas Melano. Therefore, the team put an end to their three-game winless streak of one draw and two defeats in league action to make it 12 points in the Liga Profesional. However, that’s not yet enough to climb out of the relegation zone in the point-average table as El Verde are still trailing Platense (the last safe team) by two points. In addition, Sarmiento are winless in their last three on the road, having drawn two and lost one since beating Colon 2-0 in round three.
Tigre are not in their most reliable moment but they’ve shown signs of improvements in their last two league games and they should be able to beat this poor Sarmiento at home.
